Our board of trustees are responsible for the strategic direction of the charity whilst ensuring it meets its charitable objectives.

Nathan Tanswell (Chair)

Nathan has worked in various of roles in Human Resources both as a generalist and a specialist, covering most disciplines across the public and non for profit sectors. Nathan is skilled and experienced in all aspects of employment law, employee relations, employment engagement, change management, recruitment and selection, talent and succession planning, performance management, policies, procedures and contracts, coaching, mentoring and learning development. 


John Henkel (Treasurer)

John worked for many years in passenger transport as a Director of Metro (and of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority) helping to develop transport across the region and implementing large projects such as new train lines, new stations, refurbishments, ticketing projects, smartcard and took a leading role in the organisation of the Tour de France Grand Depart in 2014. 


Becky Phillips 

Becky has over 16 years of experience working in the not-for-profit sector, in various fundraising and leadership roles. Areas of expertise are income diversification, events and people/volunteer management. 


Matt Bradshaw 

Matt has spent over 25 years working in Independent record shops and DJ’s professionally for 30 years. Matt has experience in running events and bringing the community together. 


Kath Williams

Kath worked in education until retirement in 2018. Her roles included Early Years and Primary teacher, college lecturer, Children's Centre Development Officer and co-director of a training and consultancy company.


Jenny Painter

Jenny is an artist, performer and collector of memories. She has been involved in the Kirkgate Centre as a user and volunteer since she moved to Shipley in 2013 and lives just up the road.


Grace Reid 

Grace has worked in education for almost 20 years as a secondary school teacher and subject leader at various schools across London, Leeds and now Bradford. Her area of expertise would be supporting and engaging with young people.
